  1.  OK, I’ll try and give you an honest and to-the-point review of the new Echo Show from Amazon.First up, its not perfect but is generally of a very high build quality – the touchscreen works well and obviously being able to view things on the screen is a major plus over voice interaction alone. Lists are good in this respect as is viewing Amazon Prime Video. Likewise, being able to see your timers is real bonus over having to ask Alexa how long is left on a standard Echo or Dot. This really helps with cooking and the kitchen seems the natural habitat for this device for many reasons including shopping lists, recipes and direct purchasing via voice control. I have the latter turned off due to my over-enthusiastic children.Whilst on the subject of kitchen’s and timers, if you have set multiple timers and happen to be out of the room when one of them goes off, it remains on the screen to alert you when you come back in and even comes back up to tell you if your second timer has gone off in the meantime – you don’t get this on devices without a screen. The speakers are also a major improvement over the dot, offering more bass response mainly due to the weighty cabinet in which they are housed. The housing also offers good stability from falling over. The speakers are also better than the Google Home and the standard Echo in terms of sound quality in my honest opinion but are not of an audiophile standard like Bose.Like my Dot’s this works seamlessly with my Nest products. I can set the temperature and also view my Cams with ease – this was one of the main reasons for my purchase so that I can see who is at the door ringing the bell from my Kitchen.Drop in is also an incredible feature…. calling the grumpy teens down for their tea is no longer a scream at full volume across the house. Now my voice in projected directly into their rooms (via their Dots) and they have no choice but to hear it as drop-in doesn’t require them to physically answer unlike a phone. If it did, I think I would continue to be ignored! Its not all perfect though – I feel a 10 inch screen would be better not only for watching anything substantial on it but also for glancing across the room at your recipe without squinting from the kitchen sink. Some sort of steam/water resistance would also be a bonus if you plan on siting this in the Kitchen. YouTube would be nice but don’t even get me started on that one! – hopefully these two companies can sort out their differences by the time yours has arrived. All in all highly recommended, but loses a star for the price (probably ought to be £150) and for the screen size and poor YouTube support (currently).

  2. Absolutely love this and have only touched on what Alexa can do! Ask her almost anything and love the idea of controlling lights, heating etc.The future – it’s here!
