  1. I was very excited to receive my Netatmo thermostat as this appeared to do everything I wanted from a digitally controlled thermostat. The installation of both the hardware and software was relatively painless, but problems for me began when testing the newly installed device. The boiler wouldnt switch on. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get the boiler to start up again without unplugging the device and bypassing the thermostat connections inside the boiler. Rather than assume a faulty product and return it, I attempted to solve the issue directly by searching the Netatmo forums. I assumed I must have done something wrong, and this would be the best place to start by seeing what other users ad done, and how these problems where solved. If you’re currently interested in purchasing this, go to their website. Open another window right now and search for ‘netatmo support forum’ and view the pages on ‘attaching the thermostat to the boiler’ and you will see an extremely high number of posts with no replies. These are all people with problems, and no one at Netatmo has replied. At the time of writing this, there are posts 3 months old with no replies. After seeing this, I quickly discovered that even those with similar problems to me hadn’t been helped, at least not with the information being displayed publicly. After this, I attempted to phone them. I think it’s important for any product like this to have a phone support line as there will be those much less computer literate than myself with issues. There is no number. If you want support, the only thing you can do is email them. What happens when you email them?”Due to an unexpectedly high number of emails, our response time is slightly longer than usual. We are very sorry about this and assure you that we are doing our best to reply as soon as possible.”This seems to be becoming a company’s way of saying “were woefully understaffed, and we’ll get to you when we get to you”.Five days later I get a response from them, and its of course only questions about what boiler you have, etc. The gas engineer who fitted the thermostat is now 5 days gone, so its up to me to deal with this. After a brief chat with the engineer on the phone, I send Netatmo a detailed email with all the information and more. They get the PDF boiler manual, photos of the inside wiring, and a long list of everything I’ve tested.Seven days later I still have no reply. I resend my previous email. No reply.12 days later I send another, more irate email, which again gets no reply. Now in the middle of winter, I’m a little fed up with the situation. I call Amazon directly to complain and inform them of Netatmo’s failure as a business to provide any after sale support for their product. I’m obviously told I can return the product, and in the end decide to have a second one sent out to me, to find out if the product I received was faulty. This is how quickly things can be sorted on the phone. I had the new thermostat with me within 12 hours, and it was fitted shortly after this.Unfortunately, I get the same issue. I then do some more tests, again to check I’ve done nothing wrong. After an hour of tinkering, I discover that the wire from the relay box to the boiler which is supplied by Netatmo is faulty. Within the insulated cable, there was a break in the wire, stopping the signal getting down the wire. Having solved the issue (which probably could have been solved very quickly with the right knowledge of the product from a competent support team) I box up the spare and send it back to amazon. Its only now that I get my reply from Netatmo, having sent them my long email with all the information they wanted a month previously. I get asked the exact same three questions as they asked me the first time as if they never read any of my emails.Moral of the story:If you buy this and have problems, return it and get another. The product is good, but dont expect anyone to help you with it. Dont bother with their support team, they are useless and you’ll probably freeze in your home long before they are able to help you.Since having a working device, I can report the thermostat works great, no problems as of yet. It does what it’s advertised to do which has stopped me from giving it 1 star for this experience.

  2. Very satisfied with the Netatmo thermostat, it’s enabled much greater control over the heating system. So convenient to be able to control the temperature from mobile phone and have the house warm on arriving home.

  3. Easy enough to install. It does its own thing and the house is always nice and warm.If you do not have a room thermostat at the moment you will need to be OK with accessing the boilers control panel and connecting the Netatmo control unit to it, but it is easy enough to do.Accessing it from the phone app is easy and the app is well laid out.
